Position Summary

This position is an expert at software design and development, deeply understanding system and application architectures, software delivery life cycle, cloud native applications, operations and security. This position uses their technical mastery to illustrate large scale success factors, identifying & working these technical enablers so that development teams focus on development. This person is unmatched in vision, communication and consulting, leveraging these abilities to form the connective tissue between organizations and pushing for success through shared goals.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Pave the path to a secure and scalable cloud native environment in AWS.
  • Hands-on Application Design and AWS Cloud Architecture using technologies like JavaScript, Node.js, React, Scala, AWS EC2, ECS, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Docker, Kubernetes, Dynamo DB,
  • Cloudflare, CloudFormation, Kinesis, etc.
  • DevOps, Test Automation and Cloud Operations background
  • Data and Analytics – Mongo DB, Snowflake, ELT/ETL tools and Machine Learning / AI
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute an architecture strategy.
  • Collaborates with client stakeholders, customer research, architecture, development, and operations to identify and work technical enablers.
  • Identify cybersecurity controls required for modern architectures and platforms that align with industry best practices, such as NIST 800-53 or similar.
  • Set the vision of development environment utilization, working toward modern CI/CD delivery models.
  • Manages the creation of system architecture and process charts to socialize concepts
  • Understands and balances competing constraints
  • Clearly articulates the value of design and design research
  • Understanding of change and incident management policies
  • During design, identifies architecturally significant design decisions and communicates constraints
  • Leads projects including overseeing quality and working with the PM to manage scope and budget
  • Owns, via dotted line responsibilities, the skills development and career growth of the developers on the team being led. The architect is uniquely positioned to give highly contextual and relevant on project training
  • Work across organizational lines to ensure that software is not just functional, but performant and secure.
  • Enable development teams to focus on development

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 7+ years of Architect experience in a variety of development languages and technologies: JavaScript (Node.js, React), AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, Kinesis and other supporting services), MongoDB and DynamoDB
  • Experienced with building and working with Microservice architectures, REST API’s, component libraries and platform development projects
  • Possess both application design and operational skillsets
  • Able to architect complex integrations between enterprise systems
  • Able to design, write, debug, and deploy applications
  • Able to function as an enterprise architect, with experience of integrating cloud native applications to on premise and SaaS applications.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Ability to guide an organization toward creating and implementing modern security controls
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud native applications

Education

  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree in a Relevant Field of Study (i.e. Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Math, etc.) or equivalent work experience
